V-Count vs Vemcount:
Manufacturer vs. Distributor
V-Count designs and builds its own AI sensors. Vemco Group resells third-party hardware under its own branding. Here’s what that means for your business.

V-Count
V-Count is a vertically integrated technology company. We design, engineer, and manufacture our own AI-powered sensors — the Nano AI, Nano Prime and Nano Outdoor — and develop our own BoostBI analytics platform. Every component of the solution comes from V-Count’s own R&D.
- Proprietary sensor hardware — designed in-house
- Proprietary BoostBI analytics software
- Patented AI-on-chip edge processing
- Direct firmware updates & feature roadmap control
- Single-vendor support — one call solves it
Vemcount (Vemco Group)
Vemco Group does not manufacture sensors. They purchase hardware from third-party makers — primarily Xovis (Switzerland), Hikvision (China), and Milesight (China) — and resell it bundled with their Vemcount analytics software. The sensors you receive are designed and built by someone else.
- No proprietary sensor hardware — resells Xovis, Hikvision, Milesight
- No sensor R&D, no hardware patents or IP
- Rebranded hardware — same Xovis sensors available direct
- Sensor updates depend on third-party vendor timelines
- Multi-vendor support chain — Vemco + sensor maker
Buying From the Manufacturer vs. Buying From a Middleman
When you choose a people counting provider, you’re choosing a technology partner. The distinction between manufacturer and distributor has real consequences for your deployment.
You Get the Source
V-Count’s engineering team designed the Nano AI’s 3D active stereo vision system, wrote the AI models that run on its chip, and built the BoostBI platform that visualizes the data. When a customer needs a new feature — like the AI Sales Coach that proactively recommends optimizations — V-Count’s R&D team builds and ships it.
This end-to-end ownership means tighter hardware-software integration, faster bug fixes, coordinated firmware updates, and a single vendor accountable for the entire solution. No finger-pointing. No waiting on a third party’s release schedule.
- Owns the full technology stack — sensor + firmware + cloud + mobile
- Patented AI-on-chip processes data on the sensor itself
- Innovation at the source — new features ship when V-Count decides, not when a supplier does
- Direct manufacturer pricing — no distributor markup layered on top
You Get a Middleman
Vemco Group’s shop openly sells Xovis sensors (Swiss-made), Hikvision sensors (Chinese-made), Milesight sensors, and TDI Intelligence sensors — all designed and manufactured by other companies. Vemco bundles these third-party sensors with their Vemcount software and even offers a white-label service so other resellers can rebrand the whole package again.
This means the “Vemcount sensor” you receive is actually a Xovis PC2/PC3, a Hikvision unit, or a Milesight (China) device with Vemco’s integration layer on top. The sensor technology, accuracy, and roadmap are controlled by those original manufacturers — not by Vemco Group.
- Sensors built by Xovis, Hikvision, Milesight — not by Vemco Group
- Distributor markup on hardware you could source from the original manufacturer
- White-label offered — even Vemco’s resellers can rebrand the same package
- No hardware IP — sensor innovation is out of Vemco’s control
The Supply Chain You’re Paying For
When you buy from Vemco Group, your money passes through an extra layer. Xovis (or Hikvision/Milesight) builds the sensor, sells it to Vemco Group at wholesale, and Vemco resells it to you at a markup — bundled with their analytics software. With V-Count, you buy direct from the company that designed and built the hardware.
Vemco’s supply chain:
designs & builds sensor
rebrands & resells
pay distributor price
V-Count’s supply chain:
designs, builds & sells
pay manufacturer price
What Vemco Group and Vemcount Are
A plain description of the vendor and the platform, so you can compare like for like.
Vemco Group is a people-counting and retail-analytics company headquartered in Denmark. It supplies visitor-counting hardware and reporting software to retail stores, shopping centres and other visitor-facing venues, and it reaches customers both directly and through partners depending on the market.
Vemcount is the name of Vemco Group’s cloud analytics platform. It is the dashboard layer: counting data from the installed sensors is collected there and turned into visitor, conversion and performance reports. Most people searching for “Vemcount” are looking for that platform or its login rather than for a specific sensor model.
Those are the public facts we are comfortable stating on this page. Where the table below says —, it means exactly that: ask Vemco Group for the answer in writing and compare it with ours.
How to compare Vemco Group with V-Count
V-Count designs and manufactures its own sensors — Nano AI, Nano Prime and Nano Outdoor — and runs them on its own BoostBI analytics platform. When you build a shortlist, the decision rarely turns on marketing language.
It turns on which sensor suits your entrance geometry, what the platform reports on day one, how a foot traffic counter is mounted and calibrated, where the data is hosted and who owns it. Start with the fundamentals in our people counting guide and the metric definitions in retail store analytics, then put the same questions to both vendors.
If RetailNext is also on your list, the same structure is used in our V-Count vs RetailNext comparison.

Six Reasons Enterprises Choose the Manufacturer
Beyond the checklist — here’s what makes the real-world difference when deploying at scale.
Full-Stack Control & Real IP
V-Count owns the sensor design, AI models, firmware, and cloud platform. That means tighter integration, faster updates, and a roadmap you can influence — not one dictated by Xovis’s, Hikvision’s, or Milesight’s priorities.
up to 99% Accuracy — Standard
The Nano AI delivers 99% out of the box. With Vemco, reaching that accuracy means buying Xovis’s premium PC3 sensor separately — the same sensor you could buy directly from Xovis without the middleman.
200+ KPIs + AI Sales Coach
BoostBI doesn’t just show charts — its AI Sales Coach proactively recommends staffing changes, identifies underperforming zones, and predicts peak hours. Vemcount’s dashboards report data; BoostBI drives decisions.
True Global Scale
130+ countries, offices on five continents, 150+ certified partners. V-Count supports multi-national rollouts directly. Vemco’s 95-country reach is more reseller-dependent, meaning varying service quality.
Privacy by Design — Not by Policy
V-Count’s patented AI-on-chip processes 3D depth maps on the sensor — no images transmitted, no cloud inference. GDPR is baked into the hardware. With third-party sensors, privacy depends on each vendor’s architecture.
No Middleman Markup
When you buy from V-Count, you buy direct from the manufacturer. With Vemco, you’re paying a distributor margin on Xovis/Hikvision/Milesight hardware — the same hardware available from those companies without the extra layer.

V-Count vs Vemcount: Your Questions Answered
Vemcount is the software. It is Vemco Group’s cloud analytics platform — the dashboard where counting data is stored and reported — not a sensor you mount above a door. The counting itself is done by hardware installed at the entrance, and the platform turns those counts into visitor, conversion and dwell reporting.
The equivalent split on our side is a Nano AI, Nano Prime or Nano Outdoor sensor at the door feeding BoostBI in the cloud. When you compare quotes, make sure you are comparing sensor with sensor and platform with platform.
Yes. BoostBI can take data from third-party people counters as well as V-Count hardware, so a site that already has counters installed does not have to be re-equipped before it can be reported on.
That matters in mixed estates: an acquired chain, a landlord-installed counter in a mall unit, or a pilot you want to run alongside your current vendor. BoostBI also exposes an API, so counts can be pushed into a data warehouse, BI tool, workforce-management system or POS.
Ask any vendor for the same: a documented API, an export format, and no lock-in on your historical data.
Neither answer is automatic. Vemco Group is headquartered in Denmark, so a Nordic or Northern European chain may value local-language support and proximity for installations — that is a fair reason to shortlist it.
V-Count operates globally with regional hosting options and a partner network, which tends to matter when an estate spans several countries, currencies and entrance types. The honest test is a paid pilot: the same entrances, the same opening hours, the same definition of a visitor and the same reporting period for both vendors.
Then compare the numbers, the reports and the support response.
V-Count pricing is published on request and is built the same way for everyone: sensor hardware per entrance, a BoostBI subscription per site, then installation and support. When you compare, ask both vendors to break their quote into those same lines, for the same number of stores and the same contract term.
A single blended number hides whether you are paying for hardware, for the platform, or for a third party in the supply chain.
Six questions cover most of the risk. Which sensor model and mounting height do you propose for this exact entrance? What counts as a visitor, and how are staff excluded?
Which reports exist on day one, without custom development? Where is the data hosted, how long is it retained, and what does the data processing agreement say? Who holds the contract, the warranty and the support SLA?
And what happens to our historical data if we leave? Get the answers in writing from both vendors, then run the same pilot at one representative door and book a V-Count demo.
