People Counting for Golf Courses
Tee sheets record rounds booked. They miss the guests, spectators and clubhouse-only visitors who drive secondary spend.
A golf club’s revenue is not only in green fees: clubhouse dining, pro shop, practice facilities and events all depend on visitor volume the tee sheet never sees. V-Count counts at the clubhouse, pro shop, range and practice areas, including outdoors, so managers can measure total site visitation rather than rounds alone.
What golf club managers measure with V-Count
- Clubhouse footfall — Entries to clubhouse, bar and dining areas, separating members, guests and non-golfing visitors.
- Pro shop capture rate — Traffic passing the shop versus entries, showing whether position or offer limits retail conversion.
- Driving range and practice use — Outdoor counts at range bays and short-game areas to justify investment and set pricing.
- Visitors per booked round — Measured arrivals against tee-sheet bookings, revealing the true party size and guest ratio.
- Event and society volume — Footfall on society and competition days to plan catering and staffing accurately.
- Seasonal and weather patterns — Long-run footfall trends against season and conditions to inform staffing and opening decisions.
How V-Count measures golf courses
Every V-Count deployment pairs an on-sensor AI counter with the BoostBI cloud platform. The sensor does the counting and discards the image; BoostBI turns the counts into occupancy, dwell, capture rate and zone heatmaps you can act on.
- Nano AI — the flagship 3D active stereo vision sensor, up to 99% accuracy regardless of lighting, shadow or crowding. Counts bidirectionally and excludes staff.
- Nano Prime — wide-area indoor sensor for single-entrance sites, 98% accuracy in typical lighting.
- Nano Outdoor — IP65 rated for open-air installation, rated from −30°C to +60°C.
- BoostBI — dashboards, benchmarking across sites, scheduled reports, real-time threshold alerts, plus an open REST API and webhooks for POS, CRM, BI and BMS integration.
Privacy by design
V-Count sensors process 3D depth data on the device itself. No facial features are captured, no identifiable image is stored, and nothing personal is transmitted — only anonymous counts. V-Count is ISO 27001 certified and the architecture is GDPR compliant by design, which matters in a private members’ club, where members expect discretion and would object to camera monitoring.
Installation and rollout
Each sensor mounts overhead on a single PoE cable and self-calibrates. A typical unit is installed in about 20 minutes with no need to close the space. Certified partners handle installation across 130+ countries.

Frequently asked questions
Can sensors be used outdoors on the range?
Yes. Nano Outdoor is IP65 rated and operates from −30°C to +60°C, suitable for covered bays, range entrances and practice-area gateways.
Will rain, frost or direct sun affect counting?
No. Active stereo vision projects its own infrared pattern and measures depth, so precipitation, glare and low winter sun do not degrade accuracy.
Can members and visitors be distinguished?
Counts are anonymous, so members are not individually identified. Combining measured footfall with your tee-sheet and membership data gives the member-versus-visitor split.
Are members individually identifiable?
No. Only anonymous depth data is processed on the sensor, with no images or facial features captured or stored.
Does it need mains power in remote positions?
Each sensor runs over a single PoE cable, which carries both data and power, simplifying installation at outlying buildings.
Can it integrate with our club management system?
Yes. BoostBI provides a REST API, webhooks and scheduled exports for club management, EPOS and booking platforms.
