People Counting for Nightclubs
Your licence sets a hard number. A clicker on the door is not a defensible record of it.
Nightclub capacity is a licensing condition, and manual door counts drift badly over a long night with re-entries, smoking-area movement and multiple doors. V-Count counts bidirectionally at every threshold in darkness, maintaining a live occupancy figure and an auditable log that stands up to a licensing review.
What nightclub operators measure with V-Count
- Live licensed occupancy — A continuous, auditable occupancy figure across all doors, with alerts as capacity approaches.
- Re-entry and smoking-area movement — Bidirectional counting so patrons stepping outside and returning do not corrupt the occupancy total.
- Entry curve across the night — Arrivals by 15-minute interval, informing door staffing, promoter deals and last-entry policy.
- Room and floor distribution — Counts per room or floor, showing which spaces and DJs actually draw the crowd.
- Bar zone demand — Occupancy at each bar so staff are placed where the crowd is, not spread evenly.
- Promotion and event evidence — Attendance compared across nights, promoters and artists to price future bookings on measured draw.
How V-Count measures nightclubs
Every V-Count deployment pairs an on-sensor AI counter with the BoostBI cloud platform. The sensor does the counting and discards the image; BoostBI turns the counts into occupancy, dwell, capture rate and zone heatmaps you can act on.
- Nano AI — the flagship 3D active stereo vision sensor, up to 99% accuracy regardless of lighting, shadow or crowding. Counts bidirectionally and excludes staff.
- Nano Prime — wide-area indoor sensor for single-entrance sites, 98% accuracy in typical lighting.
- Nano Outdoor — IP65 rated for open-air installation, rated from −30°C to +60°C.
- BoostBI — dashboards, benchmarking across sites, scheduled reports, real-time threshold alerts, plus an open REST API and webhooks for POS, CRM, BI and BMS integration.
Privacy by design
V-Count sensors process 3D depth data on the device itself. No facial features are captured, no identifiable image is stored, and nothing personal is transmitted — only anonymous counts. V-Count is ISO 27001 certified and the architecture is GDPR compliant by design, which matters in a late-night venue, where any form of patron identification would be both intrusive and a licensing liability.
Installation and rollout
Each sensor mounts overhead on a single PoE cable and self-calibrates. A typical unit is installed in about 20 minutes with no need to close the space. Certified partners handle installation across 130+ countries.

Frequently asked questions
Does it work in the dark with strobes and lasers?
Yes. Active stereo vision projects its own infrared pattern and measures depth, so darkness, strobes, haze and coloured lighting do not affect counting.
Can it maintain an accurate figure with re-entries?
Yes. Every sensor counts in both directions, so exits and returns are netted off and live occupancy stays correct across the night.
Is it acceptable for licensing purposes?
BoostBI retains a timestamped occupancy history per monitored space, which provides the auditable record licensing authorities ask for. Local requirements vary, so confirm with your licensing officer.
Are patrons identified?
No. Only anonymous 3D depth data is processed on the sensor. No faces or images are captured, stored or transmitted.
Can we exclude security and bar staff?
Yes. Staff exclusion via wearable Bluetooth tags keeps door and bar staff out of patron counts.
Can we get an alert before we hit capacity?
Yes. BoostBI sends real-time alerts by email, SMS or webhook at whatever threshold you set below the licensed limit.
