Office Occupancy & People Counting
Workplace, facilities and real estate teams need to know how many people actually use an office, on which days and on which floors. V-Count measures entries and exits at building and floor entrances, live occupancy, the use of meeting areas, collaboration spaces and canteens, and queues at reception or serving points.
Nano sensors count anonymously on the device, with up to 99% accuracy at entrances, and BoostBI turns the counts into occupancy reports for one building or a portfolio of offices.

What to measure in an office
- Building visits: entries and exits by hour and weekday, showing real attendance patterns.
- Occupancy: entries minus exits for the building and for each floor, provided every entry point is covered.
- Zone use and dwell: how open-plan areas, collaboration spaces and breakout zones are used through the day.
- Shared facilities: canteen, gym and reception use, including queues where the queue licence is selected.
- Comparisons: floors, buildings and sites side by side, over matching periods.
Decide first which decisions the data will support, such as floor consolidation, cleaning schedules, catering volumes or building-system schedules, and agree whether visitors and staff are counted together.
Which V-Count sensor fits each office space
Nano AI for building and floor entrances
Nano AI uses 3D active stereo vision and on-device AI to count people in both directions with up to 99% accuracy. It mounts between 2.2 m and 7 m above the entrance, and built-in IR LEDs let it count in total darkness, so early, late and weekend use is captured without extra lighting.
One unit normally covers a standard double-door entrance; wider lobbies use units side by side. It runs on 5 V USB-C power, with an optional PoE splitter, and connects over Wi-Fi.
Nano Prime for open-plan floors and zones
Nano Prime measures zone visits, heatmaps, dwell and visitor flow across wider indoor areas. Its published coverage reference is 120 m² at a 4.5 m mounting height; final coverage depends on the ceiling, layout and obstructions, so zones should be validated. Movement shows how space is used, not why.
Nano Outdoor for outdoor entrances
For business-park walkways, terraces or outdoor entrances, Nano Outdoor counts in an IP65 weather-resistant housing from −25 °C to +60 °C, including after dark, with up to 99% bidirectional accuracy.
Send V-Count floor plans and photos of entrances and spaces, and you receive placement advice within 24 hours.
Reports in BoostBI
BoostBI is V-Count’s cloud analytics platform, with a web interface, a mobile app and 19 dashboard languages. Teams can follow building and floor occupancy, compare weekdays, floors and sites, review zone dwell and receive automated reports matched to their role. Reporting typically refreshes every 10 minutes, or as often as every minute when real-time updating is enabled.
A scoped custom REST API project can pass counts to a building management system, a workplace app or a data warehouse. V-Count provides REST API documentation and confirms the version, authentication, fields, data direction and schedule with your team.
Privacy for employees and visitors
Nano sensors process frames inside the device and send only anonymous count events and analytics to BoostBI. No faces, images or video are stored or uploaded, and counts are not linked to badges or names. V-Count is ISO 27001 certified. Technical features alone do not establish regulatory compliance, so your privacy and IT teams should review the data flows, retention, access permissions and integrations.
Pricing basics
Pricing is per sensor. Nano hardware is indicatively US$299–799 per sensor as a one-time purchase, and BoostBI is US$9–49 per sensor per month, depending on the features and volume selected. Staff exclusion, queues, heatmaps and API access are separately selectable. A lifetime hardware warranty is available with the eligible VIP subscription option. Office occupancy and people counting FAQ
How is people counting different from badge or access-control data?
Access control records card taps. Nano AI counts every person crossing an entrance in both directions, so BoostBI can report entries, exits and live occupancy for the building and each covered floor. The two sources answer different questions, so many teams review them side by side over the same period.
Can we measure occupancy floor by floor?
Yes, when every entry point to a floor is covered. Nano AI at stair, lift-lobby and floor entrances counts both directions, and BoostBI calculates occupancy as entries minus exits. Nano Prime adds zone visits, heatmaps and dwell for open-plan areas. Validate counts on each floor before using them.
Can occupancy data feed our BMS or workplace app?
Yes, through a scoped custom REST API project. V-Count provides REST API documentation and confirms the version, authentication, fields, data direction and schedule. API access is a selectable BoostBI sublicence. Reporting typically refreshes every 10 minutes, or as often as every minute with real-time updating enabled.
Are employees identified by the sensors?
No. Nano sensors analyse frames on the device and send only anonymous counts to BoostBI. No faces, images or video are stored or uploaded, and counts are not linked to badges or names. V-Count is ISO 27001 certified; your privacy team should still review the deployment's data flows and retention.
How many sensors does an office need, and what does it cost?
One Nano AI usually covers a standard double-door entrance, and each floor needs every entry point covered for occupancy. Hardware is indicatively US$299–799 per sensor one-time, and BoostBI US$9–49 per sensor per month. Send floor plans and photos for placement advice within 24 hours; your quote confirms the total.
